Tomorrow is a new day

Tomorrow is a different day.

Tomorrow is almost here!

Tomorrow Parker goes to Pre-K. He has the new lunch box and outfit ready. He helped me pick out his lunch for tomorrow. He went to meet the teacher last week. He is ready to go.

But am I?

Since staying home (the month after Parker turned 2), I have not had him away from me more than a day at a time. For preschool last year he was only gone 2 days a week...Tuesday and Thursday. This year it is 4 days a week. It seams like such a long time. I know next year he will be in kindergarten and he will be gone longer, but still...4 days. I know that this is great for him and the program is wonderful (that is why I am choosing to drive 20+ minutes there 4 days a week and to let him even go 4 days a week).

Still...as a mommy that likes control, it is going to be another adjustment.

Speaking of adjustment...Paige is going to me starting school as well. Not at preschool like Parker though. Tomorrow we will find out more, but we have known this was coming for over a year now.

Paige is in speech and has been for over a year. Since she started, she has been seen at home. We have known that once she turns 3 she will be seen in the school. While living in Rowlett, we knew that in Garland ISD, she would be seen for 2 hours a week at the school (either once for 2 hours or 2 times for 1 hour each). There were not too many choices other than that.

Here in Leander, it is so different. They have TONS of choices and options for her speech. It could be as much as she would have received in Rowlett, or it could be every day in a preschool setting...with more options between.

Paige was tested on Friday for her speech to she how she has progressed over the last year. She has improved her quantity of words, but her pronunciation and articulation of them is still low. Tomorrow I will find out the results of the test (actual score) as well as their recommendation for her. On Thursday we will have her ARD.

I know as a teacher that the recommendation for her will be what is best for her. I also know that I do not have to (as her mom) let her do anything or more that I want her to. So, I am preparing myself for the worst (my baby girl gone all day everyday). I also know that in preparing myself for that, that might not be the recommendation, I do not have to take it if it is, and that she is going to be okay.

One reason I think she has improved her quantity of words is because she was in preschool last year. I also know that this year she in only on the waiting list so she might not even get in. This could be her "preschool" for the year.

Who knows. Either way, tomorrow is only a day a way, but has a lot of changes on the horizon.

Please pray for my heart and my control (or lack of) that I have in the situations and over my growing children.

As we all say...too big too fast!

First day of Preschool!!!

Getting Ready for Weekday School at FBC Rockwall

Breakfast and hair are done. Lunches and Backpacks are loaded...all we have do is get Peyton and go to our first day!

Yesterday were Parker and Paige's first day at preschool. I knew Parker would do great. He loves going to church, the gym, the park, childcare for bible study...whatever. Anything he gets to do that is fun, he is all about it. He has NEVER (other then the time he was 11 months old and was getting sick and I did not know it) had a problem being dropped off. Often when we pick him up he say, "No, go got Paige first!" The boy does not want to leave. That was no different yesterday. As I was picking him up, he told me all about the fun thing he did, told me he did not want to leave, and started to get upset down the hallway because we were leaving...better that then a friend in his class that was getting upset with the other kids were being picked up and mom was not there just yet. He did not nap, but did lay still. He did eat all of his lunch and snack...well, when we got to the car, Parker pulled out his sandwich!!!! He did not even take it out of the bag to eat. No wonder he ate all the carrots, chips, banana, and milk...plus snack after nap!

Ever since Peyton was born, Paige has had trouble being dropped off anywhere... church (she has gone since birth) or the gym (been there since 4 months old). I was a little nervous about dropping her off...I knew she would be fine within a minute or 2, but I was still nervous. She walked right in, handed her teacher her lunch and started playing. Peyton, Parker, and I got out quick while we had a chance. Paige napped and ate all of her lunch (sandwich, chips, banana, milk, and salad...yes salad) and snack (I was not worried about the girl missing a meal...she is a eater and a Smith/Leech). It did take her a little while to settle for nap though. She kept wanting to take her shoes off to nap, but she finally went down. We never thought about her napping with or without shoes...just a perk of always napping at home until you are almost 2.

Day #2 is tomorrow...

Paige's Room and Getting Ready for Preschool

Well Paige's room is for the most part done! Jami sewed the bed skirt and made headboard. We also put up a few things on the walls. Once the changing table is out of the room, we will put up her mirror and the reminder of the pictures on the wall. So here are a few pics!

Here is Paige on her 1st night in her big girl bed. It was easier than we thought to get her to go to sleep. We only had to go in once before she was down.





Baby Girl with a BIG "P" on her bed...thanks to The Hollywood Ranch girls, Jenn and Steph, for putting the P on her fabric for us and to Emily for the staple gun and the idea of making her headboard. Anything is better then the price we would have paid for the Pottery Barn Kids one we like and were trying to copy!




Parker and Paige are getting ready for preschool that starts next week. We are practicing by eating out of our lunch box and taking naps on our nap mats. We have Meet the Teacher on Thursday morning. The kids then start next Tuesday! Here are some pictures of us getting ready!


Here is Paige on her nap mat. It is on the floor by her changing table...currently where most of her animals and blankets are. As you can see...she wanted to nap with just a few of them!

Paige is getting so tall and looks even thinner than she already has been. I think she might be shedding her baby fat (at 25% weight and 90% height...what fat! HA!).

As we were cleaning up after dinner, I took Peyton out of the bumbo and put him in the swing. I sat the bumbo on the floor. After Paige washed her hands...she went to the bumbo, sat it in, put the bib (that had spit up on it) on, placed the tray on the bumbo, and started to play with the toys. Goofy little girl!
